New Mind 3

I just have to share one more thought from Dad's article, "Get a New Mind Set" with you.  It's such an important topic and the article is fairly long but I wanted to share some of the highlights with you.  Dad went into a lot of detail about healing and deliverance that I might share at a later date but for now I feel I need to share more about acquiring the mind of Christ.  Allowing God to transform us.

I'd like to challenge you to memorize Romans 12:2.  I like it best in the New Living Version:
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Just for comparison, look at how it reads in The Message:
Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Ok, I admit it's shorter in NLV but what I like most about that version is the word LET.  It's not you or me doing it.  It's the work of the Holy Spirit in us but we have to allow it.  How do we do this?  Focus on God.

Dad ended his article with this thought:
It is the Holy Spirit’s job to make us into the likeness of Christ. He will do it if we yield our self to Him. Paul says we are to think like Christ. “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”
(Philippians 2:5 American Standard Version)

John tells us that as Christ IS (present tense) so are we. “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.” (1John 4:17 ASV)

It is up to us.  Do we want to be used of God and “Prove His will” here on earth? Do we want God’s will done here on earth as it is in heaven?  Remember, “All things are possible if we only believe.”  So let’s take it from Jesus. Let's get a new mind set.  Let God be glorified here, in our church.
